Zelenskyy Nominates Naftogaz Boss Serhiy Koretskyi as New Prime Minister

Original version ·

Ukraine’s government reset is moving faster than a delivery app. Just a day after the PM resigned, Zelenskyy already has a replacement lined up.

So, Yulia Svyrydenko stepped down yesterday, automatically taking her entire cabinet with her. While normal countries would spend months debating coalitions, Ukraine's political machine took exactly twenty-four hours to find a successor.

The nominee is Serhiy Koretskyi, the current CEO of state energy giant Naftogaz. Before running the country's most critical energy company, he was managing gas station chains. Talk about a career ladder. The ruling party already had a morning coffee meeting with him to discuss his vision, and his official nomination was promptly sent to parliament.

Apparently, running a country during winter is pretty much the same as managing the national gas supply, just with more paperwork.
