Zelenskyy hosted Lockheed Martin to fix F-16 jets at home

Original version ·

Defense giants rarely drop by just to say hi, but Lockheed Martin sent a team straight to Kyiv to talk missiles and warplane maintenance.

Ferrying supersonic jets abroad for every routine checkup or minor glitch is a logistical headache nobody needs mid-war. Ukraine wants to service and repair its F-16 fighters directly inside the country, and bringing the actual manufacturer to town is how that gets moving.

The other half of the agenda was pure air defense arithmetic. Lockheed is currently dialing up the production of interceptors for the Patriot system, and Kyiv is looking to purchase missiles straight off the expanding lines to catch incoming ballistics.

Getting the manufacturer's own tools on domestic soil turns exotic hardware into a sustainable fleet instead of a logistical nightmare.
