US State Dept greenlights Ukraine air defense boost
Looks like the State Department is opening the wallet for some serious sky-shield upgrades.
So, the US just gave the thumbs up for Ukraine to buy a massive pile of air defense gear. We are talking over 2.6 billion dollars worth of stuff. Interestingly, Patriot systems didn't make the cut this time, but the list is still packed with the weird and wonderful:
We are getting radar setups to hunt down drones, modified launchers for S-300 systems, and a bunch of laser-guided rockets. It is basically a shopping list to keep the skies clear and keep the old hardware running long past its retirement date. The best part? It is getting paid for by a mix of European contributions and leftover American funds.
Apparently, keeping the lights on in Kyiv is now a collaborative effort between whoever had spare cash lying around and a very dedicated procurement team. It is a expensive way to tell incoming missiles they are not invited to the party.
