The US just blacklisted the entire ICC

Original version ·

Nothing screams international legal order quite like Trump and Rubio hitting the actual ICC with full-blown financial sanctions.

Remember the court in The Hague that issued an arrest warrant for Putin? Well, Washington just decided that whole institution is essentially a hostile rogue outfit.

Marco Rubio dropped a video calling the ICC a "fake court" and announced blanket economic sanctions against the entire entity. Not just a couple of individual judges this time — the whole court is getting cut off from American financial rails.

The trigger was the court probing American troops in Afghanistan and dropping arrest warrants for Benjamin Netanyahu over Gaza. Washington openly warned allies who rely on American defense to rein in the court, or the US will dismantle it piece by piece.

International law remains absolute, right up until someone points it at a country with eleven aircraft carriers.
