UN blacklists Russia's army for sexual violence, with 401 civilian cases confirmed

Original version ·

It turns out Russia’s war strategy isn't just about terrible logistics and outdated tanks. The UN has officially blacklisted their military for using sexual violence as a weapon of terror.

This isn't about some rogue soldiers losing their minds. Ukrainian prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko shared some dark stats: since the full-scale invasion began, 401 cases of conflict-related sexual violence against civilians have been officially documented.

And if anyone thinks this only affects women, the breakdown says otherwise: 250 women and 151 men. Among them are 24 minors. These are just the people who found the strength to speak out, and the numbers only cover civilians, not the military.

The UN has already put the Russian army on its official "list of shame" for this. Meanwhile, Ukrainian investigators aren't waiting for the war to end. They have already identified and charged 116 Russian soldiers, and local courts have passed 19 verdicts against 26 of them.

Sure, most of these criminals are currently hiding back home in Russia. But these convictions don't expire, and the paperwork is ready for international tribunals.

An arrest warrant is a lifetime subscription to staying inside one's own country.
