Seven civilians finally head home from Russia

Original version ·

After two years of hell, some of our people are back on home soil. The sheer insanity of why they were taken in the first place is just impossible to process.

Seven Ukrainians have finally made it back after spending years in Russian captivity. The group ranges from 35 to 66 years old, and they were grabbed by the occupiers back in 2022 during the chaotic early days of the full-scale invasion.

The stories are surreal. One man was snatched from his home simply because his sons were serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another was stopped on his way to work on the very first day of the invasion. One of the returnees was even a volunteer captured alongside Taira (Yuliia Paievska) during the defense of Mariupol.

It’s a brutal reminder that for the Kremlin, being a regular civilian just trying to live is enough of a reason to be thrown into a cage.

It’s hard to imagine the sheer relief of breathing air that isn't inside a Russian prison cell.
