Ukrainian tech firms test new interceptors to hunt down Shahed drones

Original version ·

Looks like we’re finally playing a bit of defensive catch-up against those noisy pests.

Zelenskyy just dropped the news that two Ukrainian companies successfully tested new interceptor drones in live combat conditions. The goal is simple: stop the high-speed Shahed drones that keep buzzing over our heads.

They aren't giving away the secret sauce on how these things work just yet, but the results are promising. These interceptors actually managed to knock a high-speed target out of the sky during testing. Now the focus is shifting to scaling this up for mass production as fast as possible.

There are roughly 67 different teams tinkering with similar ideas right now, but these two are the ones actually showing results in the air. Contracts are already in the works, which is exactly the kind of momentum needed to turn the tide.

Innovation moves faster when the target is loud and flying right at you.
