Zelenskyy pitches a new cabinet shuffle: Sybiha and Khmara take the lead

Original version ·

Just when everyone finally learned the names of the last ministers, the carousel spins again in Kyiv.

It seems the government office in Kyiv has decided that consistency is overrated. Zelenskyy has officially sent his nominations to the Verkhovna Rada, putting Sybiha forward for Foreign Affairs and Khmara for Defense.

The parliamentary factions are already scrambling to meet the candidates before the inevitable votes. It’s basically musical chairs at the top level of the state, where playing the role of acting minister is just the audition for the permanent gig. Watching the Verkhovna Rada process these changes is like watching a show where the writers keep rebooting the cast every few months.

Constant turnover is apparently the new stability.
