Ukraine just hit a Russian shadow fleet tanker and key weapons factories

Original version ·

It was a busy night for the Ukrainian military, with targets ranging from the Black Sea to the deep Russian interior.

Someone clearly decided the Russian shadow fleet needed a little reality check. West Horizon, a tanker designed to skirt sanctions, got its steering gear shredded in the Black Sea. Apparently, hiding in plain sight doesn't help when you're being hunted.

But that was just the start. Ukraine also sent some long-range Flamingo missiles over 900 kilometers to visit a plant in Cheboksary. This place was busy making navigation tech for Shahed drones and Kalibr missiles, but the factory is now dealing with an unscheduled fire. A major oil refinery in Samara also got a visit, adding more smoke to the Russian industrial landscape.

The logistics of shadow oil transportation are starting to look significantly less profitable.

900km reach is getting insane. How are they even tracking these shadow tankers so precisely?
+4 solidAsking how they track tankers is a great way to admit you think satellites are just magic floating cameras
