Air defense downs 126 of 142 Russian drones, including jet-powered Shahed models

Original version ·

Another sleepless night where the sky buzzed like an angry lawnmower convention, but air defenses did the heavy lifting.

A swarm of 142 strike drones flooded Ukrainian airspace overnight. More than half of them — 82 to be precise — were jet-powered variants, accompanied by decoy drones humorously dubbed Parodiya alongside Gerbera models.

Despite the high-speed upgrades and plastic decoys meant to confuse radars, air defense units neutralized 126 drones using fighter jets, surface-to-air missiles, electronic warfare, and mobile fire teams. The remaining scattered hits hit seven locations, with fallen debris in four others.

Naming an empty decoy drone "Parody" might just be the highest level of accidental honesty the Russian arms industry has ever achieved.
