270 Ukrainians are finally back home after Russian captivity

Original version ·

Another massive exchange just went down, bringing home defenders who’ve been in the dark for years.

It’s wild how life can change in a day. 270 of our people are back on home soil. This includes guys from Azov, border guards, and even a 74-year-old teacher, Stephen Hubbard, who was dragged through hell for just teaching English. Some of these people have been held since 2018, and five of them were actually survivors of the horrific Olenivka prison massacre who everyone thought were gone.

The sheer scale of this is hard to wrap your head around—we are talking about people who held the line in Mariupol and other hotspots, many of whom were slapped with fake life sentences by the occupier's kangaroo courts. They’re getting medical checks and a long-overdue path to some kind of normalcy now.

It’s a massive win, but it’s a grim reminder of how long the shadow of this war really stretches.
