Koretskyi: No More Blanket Draft Shields Without Trading Staff

Original version ·

Ukraine's government just overhauled draft exemptions: unconditional 100% protection is gone, even for energy and arms makers.

The golden ticket era for corporate draft shields is officially over. To secure a full 100% exemption for a team, businesses will now have to voluntarily send a regular share of their own workers into the military. In exchange, deployed staff keep their jobs and salaries, with defined roles and timelines.

Even defense plants and critical power grid operators lose their default blanket immunity. If they desperately need everyone on deck, they now have to file a formal appeal. The rationale is painfully blunt: too many shady LLCs were being incorporated solely to dish out exemptions.

Alongside this, the Ministry of Defense is stiffening penalties for evasion, hoping structured corporate rotations will finally eliminate chaotic street mobilizations.

Office politics just reached peak survival mode now that departments must quietly decide who gets volunteered so the rest can stay.
