Sparklers on target: Ukraine knocks out nearly 43% of Russia's oil refining power
While some are debating red lines, Ukrainian drones are casually rewriting the global energy map, one Russian oil refinery at a time.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine just dropped some beautiful math. It turns out nearly 43% of Russia's total design oil refining capacity is now officially out of service. That is almost half of their entire industry, gone up in smoke.
Over the last month alone, eight major refineries took a direct hit. Over sixty massive storage tanks have been either totally obliterated or critically damaged. We are talking about 13.5 billion dollars in industry losses in just one year.
And the best part? They cannot easily fix them. Due to sanctions, the necessary high-tech spare parts are nowhere to be found, so their repair schedules are basically being pushed back indefinitely. Even their massive Nizhny Novgorod Oil Refinery has been forced to shut down operations.
A global energy superpower is slowly being forced to learn how to refine oil with thoughts and prayers.
