Andrii Sybiha and Yevheniy Khmara to Lead Ukraine's Diplomacy and Defense

Original version ·

Just when we thought we got used to the old faces, the government reboot is in full swing. Meet the temporary heads of the two most critical ministries.

The cabinet musical chairs continue. Following the sudden resignation of former Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, the entire government dissolved, making way for the newly appointed PM Sergii Koretskyi.

Now, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved two key temporary appointments: Yevheniy Khmara is running the Ministry of Defense, and Andrii Sybiha is leading the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

But that’s not all. The government decided it was the perfect time to play LEGO with the ministries. They resurrected the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, built a brand new Ministry for Communities and IDPs, and chopped up several other departments—separating transport from infrastructure and economy from ecology.

It seems the only constant in national politics is the urge to rename and reorganize things whenever the weather changes.
