From 5,000 helmets to joint missile production: Germany is going all in with Ukraine
Remember when Berlin sent us helmets and we thought they were joking? Well, things have escalated. We are now building over ten joint defense ventures to make drones and long-range weapons together.
Remember the dark comedy of early 2022? 5,000 helmets. That was the peak of European solidarity. Now, Germany has basically looked in the mirror, realized who they are, and decided to become our primary defense buddy in Europe.
Our ambassador Oleksii Makeiev dropped some wild numbers. They are spending about 0.25% of their GDP on military aid for Ukraine. We are talking over 11 billion euros earmarked for 2026 and 2027.
But the coolest part isn't just the money. We are setting up more than ten joint ventures to build actual weapons—drones, interceptors for air defense, and long-range missiles. They even signed a deal to co-develop a brand new air defense system specifically to hunt ballistic missiles.
It turns out the best way to avoid crossing red lines is to simply manufacture the weapons that erase them.
