Ukraine just launched the world’s first official Drone Day

Original version ·

Because nothing says "welcome to the future" like having a national holiday dedicated entirely to the flying and floating robots saving the country.

Ukraine is officially celebrating the very first Day of the Unmanned Systems Forces. Yes, a whole separate military branch just for drones.

While other global superpowers are still writing 500-page manuals on how to integrate AI into their legacy systems, Ukrainians just went ahead and made a dedicated robot army. Ukraine is the first country in the world to create a separate military branch for drone warfare. From converted hobbyist quadcopters dropping grenades to sea babies sinking warships, this is peak improvisation turned into official doctrine.

The sci-fi movies of the nineties predicted killer robots, but they forgot to mention they’d be funded by PayPal donations and operated by guys in pixel camo drinking energy drinks.
