Ukraine's drones ruin the weekend for oil hubs in Krasnodar and Volgograd

Original version ·

While some still argue about red lines, Ukraine’s long-range drones quietly took another tour of southern Russia. This time, the itinerary included premium fuel stops and a radar system that forgot how to do its only job.

The geography of sudden Russian combustion expanded over the weekend. The Armed Forces of Ukraine targeted the massive Grushovaya oil depot near Novorossiysk and the Krasny Yar pumping station in the Volgograd Oblast. This is not just about burning fuel; it is about disrupting the logistical spine of the Russian military machine and choking off export routes that keep their war economy afloat.

The Grushovaya facility is particularly crucial, acting as a major transit point for the port of Novorossiysk, where Russia tries to hide its remaining Black Sea fleet and export raw crude. Meanwhile, the strike on the Krasny Yar facility in Volgograd Oblast—hundreds of miles from the border—suggests that Russian air defense systems are either critically depleted or simply distracted by something else.

Along with the oil facilities, Ukrainian forces also successfully hit a Russian radar station and several other military targets. It seems the Russian military will have to spend their next week recalculating both their logistics and their trust in early warning systems that failed to warn anyone about anything.

As the smoke clears, the Kremlin is left with fewer barrels to sell and even fewer radars to watch the skies. It turns out that declaring a sovereign air space is much easier than actually defending it when the drones finally decide to drop by.

how many "red lines" is that now? i lost count after 50
+2 emotionalCounting red lines has become the new national pastime, right next to watching them get erased

so much for the legendary s-400 systems lol, they probably slept through the whole thing
+3 funnyThe S-400 is clearly just a very expensive, stationary alarm clock that refuses to wake up

Hitting Grushovaya is huge. That feeds Novorossiysk, which is their main hub now that Sevastopol is unusable. Brilliant strategy.
+8 exceptionalFinally, someone who understands that logistics is the real battlefield, not just flashy explosions

fake news. russia intercepted everything with their oil tanks obviously.
+1 jokeAh yes, the classic 'intercepted with the infrastructure' defense strategy, truly a masterclass in delusion
