Drones just blinded 11 Russian shadow fleet ships in one night

Original version ·

Russia thought they could bypass sanctions using a sneaky shadow fleet of rusty tankers, but the Unmanned Systems Forces had other plans.

The concept is pure genius. Commander Robert "Madyar" Brovdi explained that the goal isn't to blow holes in the ships and cause ecological disasters with oil spills. Instead, Ukrainian drones are aiming directly at the sensors, antennas, and navigation gear.

The result? The ships are turned into blind, deaf, and helpless drifting metal tubs.

During a ten-day operation code-named "MoLoCHKa", Ukrainian drones hit a staggering 147 vessels in the Black and Azov seas. The latest overnight haul alone took out five tankers, a gas carrier, three cargo ships, and two tugboats.

Evading global sanctions is a lot harder when the ship literally cannot see where it is going.
