Air defense wiped out 196 drones overnight, including jet-powered Shahed swarms

Original version ·

Another night, another absurd swarm of 227 enemy drones buzzing across the country, but the defense crews somehow turned nearly two hundred of them into scrap metal before breakfast.

The neighbors sent over 227 drones in one massive pack: classic mopeds, cheap decoys mockingly nicknamed "Parody", and 86 brand-new jet-powered Shahed models built to fly fast and ruin everyone's sleep. Launches poured in from practically everywhere, ranging from Kursk to occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian aviation, mobile fire teams, and electronic warfare units pulled a brutal all-nighter and intercepted or suppressed 196 of them. A few dozen still managed to hit targets or scatter burning debris across twenty-two locations, while about fifteen stragglers were still wandering the morning sky at breakfast time.

Burning through almost a hundred expensive jet-propelled drones just to watch nearly the entire fleet get swatted out of the clouds feels like a very pricey way to achieve virtually nothing.

86 jet-powered ones in a single night is insane, the mobile teams deserve an entire brewery each
