150 of 186 Drones Downed: Ukraine Repels Massive Mixed Swarm

Original version ·

Another night, another reminder that sleeping through until morning in Ukraine has basically become an extreme sport.

The sky overnight was an absolute mess. Russia decided to empty whatever was sitting in the hangar, hurling 186 drones across the border all at once. It was not just the usual rattling mopeds either; they mixed in nearly ninety high-speed jet-powered drones alongside cheap foam decoys sarcastically named "Parodiya".

Ukrainian air defense swatted 150 of these aerial targets out of the sky, including 63 of the fast jet variants that mobile gun crews usually have only seconds to track.

When an attacker has to mix experimental jet drones with literal plywood decoys just to confuse radar screens, it stops looking like advanced doctrine and starts looking like desperate button-mashing.

Burning through massive piles of specialized electronics just to turn most of it into field scrap before breakfast is certainly a choice.
