Ukraine downs 109 drones and 5 missiles in wild night barrage
From jet-powered Shahed drones to anti-ship missiles fired at land, air defense spent the night intercepting an absolute circus of Russian tech.
Instead of sticking to standard strike patterns, Russian forces emptied almost every drawer in their arsenal overnight. We are talking about 143 drones and eight missiles launched from six different directions, throwing everything from anti-ship Oniks missiles to Kh-31P and Kh-59 rockets into the mix.
The bulk of the assault zeroed in on Odesa, featuring not just regular Shahed drones, but a third of them equipped with jet engines, alongside weird decoy crafts appropriately nicknamed Parodiya.
Ukrainian air defense teams — mobile squads, electronic warfare units, and fighter jets combined — shot down or jammed 109 drones and five missiles, neutralizing the supersonic anti-ship threat and sweeping up the flying decoys before breakfast.
Firing anti-ship missiles into residential regions while testing jet-powered lawnmowers feels less like strategy and more like weaponized desperation.
