Ukraine has managed to bring 2,358 kids back home

Original version ·

It is a drop in the ocean, but a massive victory for the families involved.

Dmytro Lubinets, the ombudsman, just confirmed we've clawed back over 2,300 children from occupied territories. The sheer absurdity of the situation is that while we celebrate every single kid returned, Russia has literally documented the 'relocation' of hundreds of thousands more in their own internal files.

The process is a nightmare of logistics and back-channel negotiations. Families beg for help, and the team just goes in and tries to get them out. It’s a slow, agonizing process of fighting a system that views children as pawns in a sick political game.

Every child brought home is a punch in the face to a regime that tries to erase their identity.

It’s hard to call it a victory when the scale of the crime is so massive it barely fits into a human brain.

Every single kid is a miracle. Thank god for the teams working on this.

2000 out of hundreds of thousands? The bureaucracy of evil is just too big to fight easily.
