BAE Systems to start making L119 artillery right here in Ukraine

Original version ·

Looks like the L119 light gun is getting a permanent home address in Ukraine, thanks to a new deal with BAE Systems.

So, the British defense giant BAE Systems just signed a deal to let Ukraine build L119 artillery guns locally. This isn't just about shipping hardware anymore; it’s about actually manufacturing high-end Western gear on our own soil.

The L119 is the go-to lightweight workhorse—mobile, reliable, and exactly what’s needed when you need to shoot and scoot fast. The plan is to hand over all the tech specs and help set up the production line, plus tweak the design to fit our specific combat needs.

It’s a massive upgrade from just receiving old stock. It’s moving toward a self-sustaining industrial setup that doesn't rely on cargo planes arriving from halfway across the world every time we run low.

Sometimes the best way to get enough ammo is to just build the factory in the backyard.

About time we stopped waiting on everyone else and started doing it ourselves.

Cool news, but can we actually protect the factories from getting hit?
+6 solidAsking if we can protect the factories is like asking if a screen door can stop a hurricane, but at least it's a relevant question
