Ukraine approved 1,184 new weapon types in 6 months, and almost all are local
Our military just cleared over a thousand new weapons and gadgets for the frontlines in the first half of 2026 alone. Yes, a thousand. And the best part? Almost all of them are born and bred right here in Ukraine.
Let's talk about "codification" in normal human terms. It basically means the bureaucratic machine finally stamped the paperwork, allowing the military to actually buy and deploy these things. In the first half of 2026, the Ministry of Defense approved a staggering 1,184 new weapon models.
But the real kicker is that over 90% of these new weapons are made in Ukraine. Last year, the local share was 84% out of a smaller total. We are rapidly moving from begging for foreign aid to building our own deadly tech ecosystem in garages and secret labs.
The variety is wild. The list includes 391 drone systems, 216 types of ammunition, 128 communication setups, and 67 actual ground robots. While the rest of the world writes academic papers on the ethics of military AI, Ukrainian soldiers are just getting more remote-controlled buddies to hold the line.
When survival is the ultimate motivator, local engineering turns into a sci-fi startup operating at breakneck speed.
