Ukraine’s most colorful lawmaker Mykola Tyshchenko is back in the dock, this time accused of offering mafia-style protection to scam call centers.
Anti-corruption prosecutors brought Mykola Tyshchenko before the High Anti-Corruption Court after uncovering a rather ambitious hustle.
According to investigators, while publicly crusading against illegal call centers, he privately demanded over $1 million to crush their competitors and leave them alone. The punchline is that he never actually received the payout.
On top of that, detectives allege he laundered 12.6 million hryvnias through a fake cash "gift" agreement with his ex-wife — despite her lacking any legal income to give such amounts, with no money ever changing hands.
The man managed to combine crusader cosplay, phantom millions, and fake marital gifts into one magnificent charge sheet.
