Trump: US may let Ukraine build its own Patriot missiles
A little bird told Donald Trump that it's time for Ukrainians to stop complaining about missile shortages and start manufacturing their own highly advanced air defense systems.
Before meeting Zelenskyy in Ankara, Trump casually dropped a massive update: the US is preparing to hand over the licensing rights to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles directly to Ukraine.
His reasoning is wonderfully straightforward. If Ukraine makes them locally, there will be no more grounds to complain about Washington not sending enough ammo. He admitted that the technology is incredibly complex, but added that Ukrainians are smart and "will figure it out quickly."
This move could transition Ukraine from begging for air defense to running its own high-tech military production line. While the licensing details are still being negotiated, shifting from sending spare stockpiles to transferring blueprints is a huge strategic pivot.
It turns out the ultimate solution to endless congressional budget battles was just letting Ukraine hit "print" on its own defense systems.
