Trump to ‘check’ if Russia broke his truce
Remember that surprise energy truce Trump casually announced? Russian missiles didn't get the memo, and now he needs to 'investigate'.
The setup was peak diplomacy: Donald Trump had a phone call with Putin, abruptly announced an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, and then Moscow promptly struck six Ukrainian energy facilities.
When asked by Suspilne about the strikes, his reaction was pure gold: “I have to check that. Because there were violations on both sides.” Apparently, having power plants blown up by cruise missiles counts as a mutual misunderstanding.
He also claimed Putin actually wants a peace deal more than Zelenskyy does, insisting both leaders simply don’t know how to reach one until they are forced to.
Nothing screams a genuine desire for peace quite like launching missiles at substations the very next morning.
