Radoslaw Sikorski: Russia has no resources to attack Poland

Original version ·

The Polish Foreign Minister is keeping it real about Moscow's actual capabilities and the inevitable game of cat and mouse.

Radoslaw Sikorski Sikorski isn't losing sleep over a full-scale invasion. According to the top diplomat, Russia simply lacks the muscle to pull off a direct attack on Poland right now. The real threat isn't tanks crossing the border, but rather the classic Kremlin playbook of dirty, under-the-radar provocations.

Sikorski points out that the guy in the Kremlin has a track record of making wildly optimistic and frankly delusional decisions. While Warsaw isn't panicking, centuries of dealing with their neighbor have taught them to take every threat seriously. The minister also didn't miss a chance to take a dig at Vladimir Putin Putin, noting that what was once considered the world's second-best army is currently struggling to even be the second-best force inside Ukraine.

History is a cruel teacher, but it seems some people never bother to study for the exam.

Finally someone speaking common sense. The 'second army' joke never gets old.

Provocations are arguably worse than a clear war, it's all about plausible deniability.
+5 solidA rare moment of geopolitical nuance in a sea of internet shouting
