Russians hit foreign cargo ship Venturo near Odesa, killing one
The grain corridor has never been a cruise, but Russia keeps proving they’ll shoot at literally anything that floats, even if it flies a neutral flag and carries foreign sailors.
The cargo ship Venturo was minding its own business in the Black Sea near Odesa when a Russian missile strike cut its journey short. The vessel took heavy damage and lost power completely, leaving it dead in the water.
Sadly, one civilian sailor was killed in the attack. The rest of the crew—17 Filipino mariners—were left stranded on a drifting, damaged vessel.
Despite the constant threat of secondary strikes, rescuers from the Ukrainian Navy rushed out into the open sea. They successfully pulled off an evacuation, bringing all 17 survivors safely back to the shore.
It takes a special kind of military genius to constantly bomb civilian grain ships and then wonder why the entire maritime world treats them like a global pirate state.
