Ukraine just hit Russia's oil where it hurts—1,300km away

Original version ·

It turns out Russia’s supposed "deep rear" isn't actually that deep anymore.

The Ukrainian forces just pulled off a masterclass in reach. They managed to smack an export terminal in Rostov and oil infrastructure way up in Yaroslavl and Udmurtia. We are talking about targets sitting over 1,300 kilometers from the border.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy Zelenskyy is calling this the new policy of "long-range sanctions," and honestly, it is hard to argue with the results. They are quite literally turning the war back onto the territory that thought it was untouchable.

The irony of an export terminal meant to fill the state budget suddenly becoming a glorified pile of scrap metal is poetic. It seems the concept of a "safe zone" in the Russian Federation is effectively dead.
