Russia fires 35 missiles and 190 drones, upgrading to jet Shaheds

Original version ·

Morning coffee hits differently when the sky is filled with high-speed ballistic missiles and new jet-powered kamikaze drones.

The overnight attack was brutally heavy, with 35 missiles and nearly 190 drones aimed primarily at Kyiv and surrounding towns. Most of those incoming missiles were high-speed ballistics, leaving nine dead and dozens injured in the capital region alone.

The most alarming part of this wave is the technical upgrade: Russia is increasingly deploying jet-powered Shahed drones, which travel far faster than the older lawnmower-sounding models. The strike damaged residential buildings, a school, and even the embassy of Lithuania in Kyiv, while artillery and FPV drones terrorized southern regions like Kherson all day.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded allies once again that air defense systems are currently sitting in foreign warehouses waiting for political decisions while civilians take the hit.

When foreign diplomatic missions start taking collateral damage in residential zones, western partners might finally double-check where those spare air defense batteries are parked.
