Russia is building fake wikis to poison AI models
Forget comment section trolls — Moscow has moved on to feeding fake news directly to AI chat bots.
Leaked internal documents show that traditional troll farms are officially outdated. Instead of hiring people to argue in comments, Russia is running a long-term operation to flood the web with hundreds of thousands of fake news pages, phony think tanks, and knock-off Wikipedia clones.
The plan isn't just to trick human readers anymore. The main objective is data poisoning: creating so much fake content with cross-references that search engines and AI models absorb Kremlin propaganda as factual truth during training.
They built bogus research hubs like the "World Center for Strategic Studies" that literally steal Western analytical reports, tweak the conclusions, and re-publish them. For Germany alone, they planned over 200,000 pages to bend search algorithms to their side.
Silicon Valley spent billions teaching algorithms to read the web, only for Moscow to convert the web into a giant propaganda textbook.
