Russia is literally begging India for gasoline now
Turns out hitting Russian refineries with drones actually works better than anyone expected.
Energy giants like Rosneft and Lukoil are currently scrambling to find fuel suppliers abroad. After a solid chunk of their domestic refining capacity got knocked offline, the "energy superpower" is in the position of having to import refined gasoline instead of exporting it.
It’s a hilarious reversal. India, which usually buys cheap crude from Russia, is now being asked to sell the refined stuff back. Hardeep Singh Puri, the Indian oil minister, is playing it cool, claiming they aren't selling to them directly—but we all know how traders operate. About 40% of their refining capacity is struggling to come back online, and the Kremlin is reportedly facing its worst fuel crisis in modern history.
So the country that prides itself on fueling the world is now relying on ship-to-ship transfers just to keep the lights on and the tanks moving.
It is truly peak performance to be a major oil producer and still need a grocery delivery for gas.
