The Kremlin leader says long-range Ukrainian drone strikes aren't changing anything on the front, but admits Russia desperately needs more air defense for its refineries.
Putin dropped by Russian state TV to reassure everyone that Ukraine's long-range strikes on Russian oil infrastructure are merely an annoying distraction. According to him, blows to energy facilities have absolute zero impact on the frontline situation.
Yet in the very same breath, he demanded a rapid boost in domestic air defense production because those same ineffective drones keep causing annoying fuel shortages. He also brushed off Ukraine's proposed mutual halt to deep strikes, claiming it is just a sneaky trick to relieve pressure on Ukrainian troops.
Instead of slowing down, Moscow insists on capturing four full Ukrainian regions while waiting for diplomatic envoys from Washington to show up once the Middle East calms down.
It takes a special kind of military logic to claim deep strikes do nothing right before admitting you are running out of fuel and air defense systems.
