Poland might finally get that permanent US base

Donald Tusk just got a surprisingly warm nudge from Washington about setting up shop in Poland for good.

So, Donald Tusk Tusk is acting like he just got the best text message of the year. After sending out feelers, he got a reply from US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Hegseth that was shockingly fast and, dare we say, actually enthusiastic.

We are talking about potentially turning the current rotation of 10,000 troops into a permanent military base. Usually, these things take decades of paperwork and diplomatic hangovers, but the signals from the Pentagon are surprisingly green. Tusk admits there are still details to hammer out, but for once, nobody is dragging their feet.

A permanent American footprint in the backyard is the ultimate geopolitical insurance policy.
