Poland scrambles jets as Russia gets too close for comfort

Original version ·

Neighbors are getting nervous again as Russian drones play a dangerous game near the Polish border.

Another day, another reminder that Russia has zero respect for borders. Polish military jets had to scramble mid-day as Russian drones were busy terrorizing Western Ukraine. The situation got so intense that two regional airports, Lublin and Rzeszow, had to hit the pause button on all flights.

The Polish Armed Forces weren't taking any chances, especially since one of those drones decided to crash just a few kilometers away on the Ukrainian side. It is getting uncomfortably routine to see NATO-member airspace treated like a playground for stray munitions. Ground defense systems are currently on high alert, just waiting for the next unwelcome guest to cross the line.

At this rate, Poland is going to need a permanent air patrol just to keep the coffee shops at the airport open.

Wait, so they just shut down the whole airport because of a toy drone? Ridiculous.
