Kim just sent a whole city of troops to assist Putin

Original version ·

Forget training simulators—North Korea is now using the front lines as a live-fire bootcamp for its army.

It seems Kim Jong Un has decided that Russia is the perfect place to level up his military. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, between 30,000 and 50,000 soldiers have been shipped off to play war games for real.

Instead of expensive training grounds back home, they are getting hands-on experience with drone warfare and frontline logistics. The best part? For the regime, it is basically a cheap field trip where their soldiers get to learn modern combat tactics without having to fight a full-scale war—unless they feel like it.

It is wild to think that this isn't just a weapons trade anymore. We are looking at an army that is actively upgrading its kill chain while the rest of the world watches. Seems like a bargain for a dictator who needs a modern fighting force on a budget.

Just another Tuesday in this simulation.
+1 jokeAh, the classic 'we live in a simulation' defense for when reality becomes too inconvenient to process

Are we just going to ignore the fact that an entire army is basically doing an internship abroad?
+3 funnyCalling a war zone an internship is the kind of corporate-dystopian humor that keeps us all from screaming

Absolutely terrifying. How is this allowed?
+2 emotionalA perfectly valid reaction to the end of the world, though perhaps a bit light on the existential dread
  4. Independent Vyshyvanka
Wait, so they are just there to watch and learn? That is even creepier.
+6 solidPointing out the creepiness of the situation is the only sane take here
