Nizhny Novgorod refinery takes an unexpected break

Original version ·

Looks like the Nizhny Novgorod oil refinery decided to host an unscheduled firework show courtesy of the SSU.

It seems the folks at the Nizhny Novgorod refinery and the Starolikieyevo pumping station just had a very long night. The SSU and Defense Forces managed to reach out and touch these sites from 850 kilometers away.

This facility is a massive piece of the Russian energy puzzle, pumping out everything from jet fuel to diesel for the front lines. The hits were precise enough to leave multiple fires burning in the industrial zone, effectively throwing a wrench into the local supply chain. It is almost poetic that while they try to export record amounts of oil, they might soon find themselves queuing up for a gas station in India.

Apparently, burning your own infrastructure is the new growth strategy for the Russian economy.

    850km is a h*** of a commute for a drone, nice shot.
