Poland Strips Zelenskyy of Its Highest Award
Just when you think geopolitics can’t get any pettier, Poland’s president decided to take back his country’s highest toy.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki just stripped Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of the prestigious Order of the White Eagle. Yes, the shiny state medal that usually signifies ultimate friendship and alliance.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is absolutely not amused by this move. He basically called it a massive diplomatic facepalm, publicly warning that it directly plays into Moscow's hands and has left western allies scratching their heads in absolute shock.
Taking back a prestigious state medal during an active war is definitely a unique way to show neighborly solidarity.
Apparently, fighting over historical beefs and symbolic metal is much more urgent than keeping a united front.
