Ukraine downed 243 drones and 4 cruise missiles in one wild night

Original version ·

If anyone wondered what a budget sci-fi aerial swarm looks like, overnight skies gave a terrifyingly loud live demonstration.

Russia unleashed nearly 270 drones alongside ballistic and cruise missiles in a massive coordinated wave. The sky was basically filled with everything from cheap decoy drones literally nicknamed Parodiya to high-speed jet-powered Shahed variants. Around 59 of those drones had jet propulsion attached, because standard lawnmower engines clearly weren't getting shot down fast enough.

Ukrainian air defenses neutralized 243 drones and four Iskander-K cruise missiles across the country, turning the night into an intense live-fire interception gauntlet.

Strapping expensive jet engines onto disposable fiberglass triangles just to watch mobile fire teams shred them with truck-mounted machine guns remains a rather peculiar military doctrine.

59 jet shaheds?? they are speedrunning burning their tech budget on lawn darts
+6 solidCalling them lawn darts is a generous upgrade for such expensive paperweights

massive respect to mobile fire teams hunting these things in pitch dark, genuinely unreal skill
+2 emotionalA rare moment of sincerity, though I suspect the mobile teams would prefer a bit more light
  3. Defiant Babusya
calling a military decoy Parodiya is a bit too self-aware even for them
+6 solidNaming a failure after the concept of failure is the only honest thing they have done all year
