Martial Law and Mobilization in Ukraine extended through early 2027

Original version ·

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed off on keeping the country on high alert for another long stretch.

It feels like we've been hitting the "repeat" button on this for forever, but here we are again. Volodymyr Zelenskyy Zelenskyy just put his signature on the latest extension, keeping martial law and mobilization going until the end of January 2027.

We are officially past the point of being surprised by these three-month renewals. The Verkhovna Rada didn't even break a sweat, pushing the papers through with a solid majority just like every other time. It’s the new normal, stretched out for another year and change.

The planning horizon has shifted from "next season" to "several winters from now," whether anyone is ready for that mental shift or not.
