Leniie Umerova Exposed Russia's "Carousel Arrests" at the UN

Former political prisoner Leniie Umerova just told the UN Security Council how Russia's legal system actually operates on Ukrainian civilians.

Back in late 2022, Leniie Umerova tried to visit her sick father in occupied Crimea. Instead, she spent six months locked up on fabricated administrative charges. When a higher court finally ordered her release, she walked out the prison gate — only for men to throw a bag over her head and drive her straight to another prison.

This endless loop is what Russia uses against Ukrainian civilians: "carousel arrests" designed to keep people in total isolation without charges, lawyers, or family contact. In Crimea alone, at least 60 women are currently sitting in pre-trial detention centers under similar pretexts.

Winning a court case in that system apparently just qualifies someone for immediate rearrest right at the exit doors.
