Kyiv transit hits 30 UAH: grab your wallet
Looks like Kyiv decided that moving around the city is now officially a premium experience.
Starting July 15, a single ride on any municipal transport in Kyiv will set you back 30 UAH. Vitali Klitschko has signed the order, so there is no turning back now.
While the single ticket price is jumping, the city is pushing the Kyiv Digital app as a way to soften the blow, offering discounts if you buy bulk rides. They are also introducing a 90-minute unlimited transfer ticket for 60 UAH starting in August, which sounds fancy until you realize you are paying for the privilege of running between buses.
Essentially, the era of cheap public transport is officially dead. It is the classic move: ignore the petition to keep prices down, sign the decree, and hope people get used to the app.
The city government clearly thinks commuters have deep pockets for these new transit adventures.
