Monastery and film studio hit in massive Russian strike on Kyiv

Original version ·

Just when you think the neighbors can't get any more absurdly destructive, they decide to launch a massive night attack targeting a movie studio and one of the oldest monasteries in Europe.

Another heavy night in the capital. The latest Russian strike killed five people and injured 44 others, including three children. But the choice of targets this time is especially surreal.

Missiles and debris managed to damage both the historic Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra monastery and the famous Dovzhenko Film Studios. Because apparently, an 11th-century holy site and a legendary movie set are high-value military threats in the Kremlin's strategic planning.

The fires were so intense that the SES had to deploy helicopters over the city. Firefighters had to fly helicopters through thick black smoke to dump almost a hundred tons of water over burning residential areas.

It takes a special kind of military genius to declare war on ancient monks and movie props while claiming everything is going strictly according to plan.
