Russia hits Kyiv high-rises: 5 dead, 36 wounded

Original version ·

Another brutal night in the Ukrainian capital as Russian ballistic missiles and drones tore through residential neighborhoods instead of military targets.

A combined overnight attack on Kyiv left five people dead and 36 wounded, turning ordinary suburban apartment blocks into emergency response zones.

The heaviest blow landed on a residential building in the Desnyanskyi district. A direct hit killed three women — aged 35, 58, and 84 — inside their homes, while sending 25 people, including a small child, to local hospitals. Two more victims died across town in Holosiivskyi.

Air defense managed to knock down four ballistic missiles and 115 drones, but what breached the net was lethal. By morning, local police had pitched mobile tents on the pavement just to process roughly 80 property destruction claims from residents whose flats had been blown open.

That familiar brand of precision targeting that somehow always zeroes in on pensioners and kids' bedrooms.
