Kyiv officials charged over $30k fake disability scheme
Just when you thought disability scam prices hit a ceiling, prosecutors unveiled a dream team of seven people who turned fake medical records into a luxury service.
The lineup alone sounds like an ensemble cast for a crime movie: a former medical commission head, two doctors, a former military medical expert, an ex-recruitment center chief, a tax officer, and a pensioner. Together, they were charging between $25,000 and $30,000 to declare healthy men unfit for service with severe fake diagnoses and hospital records.
During searches, investigators found fake stamps, medical records, and around $100,000 in cash, with $85,000 sitting right at the commission head's home. One doctor on the team was already on trial for trying to extort $1,500 from a wounded combat veteran. Prosecutors are now checking if all seven suspects conveniently granted fake disabilities to their own draft-age sons as well.
Inflation in the underground medical sector seems to be completely out of control.
