Kyiv Under Fire: Death Toll Hits 12 After Massive Strike

Original version ·

Another rough morning for the capital as the aftermath of the latest attack becomes clear.

It has been a grim update from the city authorities. What started as a chaotic night of explosions has turned into a tragedy, with the death toll rising to 12. Most of the victims were found in the Solomianskyi district, where a residential building took a direct hit.

The wreckage is spread across three different districts. Beyond people’s homes, the damage list is sickening: a school, a children’s hospital, and various warehouses were all hit by the debris. The reality is that we are talking about lives lost in their own beds.

Vitali Klitschko has been confirming the numbers as rescuers pull people from the rubble. It is hard to find the right words when you see photos of burnt-out cars in front of a medical clinic.

Sometimes it feels like we are living in a loop of grief and recovery.
