Kyiv wakes up to ballistics as Russia fires 135 drones and 10 missiles overnight

Original version ·

If your morning coffee was accompanied by some very loud, shaking windows, you are not alone. Our neighbors decided to throw literally everything they had at us last night.

It was a massive, chaotic night. The sky was buzzing with 135 drones, and on top of that, they threw in 10 missiles. And not just any missiles — we are talking heavy ballistics.

Our air defense teams did absolute magic, swatting down over a hundred drones, two cruise missiles, and five ballistic Iskander-M or S-400 systems. But ballistics are fast, brutal, and incredibly hard to stop completely.

As a result, sixteen different sites in Kyiv were damaged, including a regular school. Other regions took heavy hits too: Kharkiv has people wounded, Chernihiv lost power for thousands of families because the grid got hit, and Zaporizhzhia had an apartment building damaged.

Now, Zelensky is calling out the EU to finally push through that 21st sanction package. Because, surprise, those Russian missiles and drones don't build themselves out of pinecones — they run on Western chips and microchips.

Expecting the world to stop selling microchips to a terrorist state before they run out of targets seems to be the ultimate test of global bureaucracy.
