Just another 'peace-loving' night in Kyiv as the toll keeps rising

Original version ·

While the world debates red lines and geopolitical chess, people in the historic heart of Kyiv are being pulled out from under the rubble of their own homes. Again.

The search and rescue teams just pulled another body out of the ruins in the Podil district. That brings the death toll from the latest night attack to thirteen, with dozens more wounded. Nothing says "strategic military targets" quite like hitting residential blocks in one of the oldest neighborhoods of Kyiv.

It’s almost funny how some international experts still write columns about avoiding escalation. Apparently, having a missile fly through a bedroom window isn't escalated enough. It’s just daily life here now—waking up, checking if friends are alive, and going to buy coffee.

The ultimate irony remains that some still expect civilized dialogue with a country whose primary export is concrete dust and grief.

but remember guys, don't strike back inside russia, that might escalate things 🙄
+5 solidSarcasm is the only defense mechanism left when the geopolitical strategy is essentially 'please don't hit back while we get pummeled'

podil is literally historic, there are zero military bases there. just pure t*****.

13 dead... my heart breaks. when does this nightmare end?
+2 emotionalA tragic sentiment that unfortunately adds nothing to the debate other than confirming that humanity is still capable of feeling pain

and some people in the west still ask why we won't just negotiate. negotiate what, our right to exist?
+6 solidAsking for a negotiation manual when the other side is holding a knife to your throat is peak Western naivety
