Kuibyshev refinery pauses operations after drone strike

Original version ·

Another Russian refinery decides to take an unscheduled, unpaid vacation because some uninvited flying metal objects dropped by.

The Kuibyshev Refinery, owned by the state oil giant Rosneft, has completely suspended oil processing after a successful drone strike.

It seems the sky over Russia is getting busier by the day, and not with commercial flights. Instead of churning out fuel to power military hardware, the massive facility is now occupied with a much hotter task: putting out fires and assessing the damage to high-tech equipment that cannot be easily replaced under sanctions.

These spontaneous "restructuring" events are rapidly becoming a regular feature of the Russian energy sector.

It turns out that shielding massive distillation columns is slightly more difficult than bragging about air defense on state television.
